The Space Coast Birding & Wildlife Festival has "kicked it up a notch" for the 2001 Event! This year's Art Competition has been expanded to include photography as a category and is adding a poster segment for grade school children.The Art Competition is in its second year and is becoming an important and exciting part of the Festival. The encouragement of wildlife art and photography is intended to focus public attention to the beauty and bounty of wildlife in the Brevard County area. Competitors will be judged on how well they express the natural environment and ecosystem.
The Festival Steering Committee raised the prize money levels this year as well as adding new categories. Over $1,000 in prizes will be given with top awards of $150 for first place in the photography and fine arts presentations. Poster winners will be awarded $25 gift certificates for art supplies. Another unique feature of this year is the recognition given to clubs and classes of art competitors. The 2001 category winners will earn their group a $100 gift certificate for art supplies.
